The BEST Affordable Glitter Lipglosses on the Market (& MAC Dupes)!

“Mac mac Loreal yep ’cause I’m worth it
Love the way I put it on so perfect
Wipe the corners of my mouth so I work it
When I walk down the hallway they can’t say nothing
Oh oh oh my lips so luscious
The way I spice it up with the mac mac brushes” – Lil Mama

While we all love a good matte lip there is nothing like a shiny, glitter-filled lipgloss. Whether you choose to rock them alone or with a base color, you will do nothing less than shine. Lately, there’s been a trend of beauty brands selling their “OMGlookatthatglitter” lipglosses for over fifteen dollars and that is something I can not get behind. With all of these amazing brands in the drugstore and beauty supply store you are bound the find the gloss of your dreams — super pigmented, iridescent or an odd color — there is something for you! Since I’ve acquired a nice collection, I thought that I would share some of my favorites that everyone would love.  I categorized the glosses by color categories from “clear” to purple and everything in-between! *Please note that the colors swatch/wear differently from what is shown in the tube*

First Impression | NEW Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder

I’m sure many of you are familiar with Maybelline’s Fit Me collection, it’s one of the best collections that you can find in the drugstore for under $10. One of the reasons why this line is so popular is because you’re getting great quality makeup that comes in a wide range of colors, and it’s also very affordable. Recently, the Fit Me foundation line was extended by adding 18 new shades of foundation which means the line now has 32 shades. They range from the lightest shade Porcelain 102 to Java 375 the darkest shade. The Fit Me line currently consists of the Dewy/Matte + Poreless foundations, concealer, pressed powder, blush and shine free foundation stick. The newest addition to that line is the Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder!

After watching a YouTube video reviewing the loose powder, I went directly to the Maybelline section of my local Walmart to hunt down the newest item. The loose setting power comes in eight different shades starting at Fair and ending at Dark. I purchased the color Deep (the second darkest) for only $5.94! The Fit Me Loose Finishing powder is described as a mineral-based formula that will help control shine and smooth skins texture with a hint of color. You can currently find this in-stores and online at Walmart, Ulta and Maybelline’s website.

The products I used when testing this out were:

Maybelline Baby Skin Primer

Maybelline Matte + Poreless foundation in Coconut 355

Ruby Kisses Pure Mineral concealer in Golden Honey mixed with the Marc Jacobs Coconut Dew Drops Highligther

& Wet n Wild Megaglo highlighting powder in Lilac to Reality

Final thoughts: I definitely loved the finished product after applying this finishing powder to my full face. It feels very light on, and kept my face from getting oily which I occasionally experience when using the Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation.  I also liked the fact that the powder didn’t alter the color of my already applied makeup. I applied my makeup at 5:30 and didn’t take it off until 12, after the NBA Finals Game 3 (GO CAVS!). During those hours I never needed a retouch and that is what really won me over.

I won’t recommend this product because I would like to try it with a different combination of items before I give it my stamp of approval but I’m not saying that you shouldn’t buy it either (like that helps LOL). If you do try it, let me know what you used it with and your thoughts!

L.A Colors Shadow by Number Palette Haul + Swatches!

On one of my most recent trips to Dollar Tree I had come across these beautiful quads from L.A. colors and I just had to try them out. To not go overboard I picked my two favorites Nerd Chic and Extra Credit. Even though these quads looked promising I was still a bit skeptical about the quality, and this is coming from someone who was an avid user of their 3 and 5 color palettes.

After opening and swatching these eyeshadows I was in awe because the shadows are so buttery and they swatch b-e-a-u-t-ifully except for a few.

SWATCHES ||

Nerd Chic

1 – A frosty champagne

2 –  A shimmering bronze

3 – A shimmering brown with cherry red glitter

4 – A matte olive green

Extra Credit

1: A shimmering yellow gold

2 – A shimmering teal

3- A matte pale pink (kind of chalky)

4- A shimmering rose gold

My favorite out of the two would have to be Extra Credit because it comes with a nice selection of colors that would be perfect for the spring/summer. If you see any while you’re out and about then you should check them out.

DIY Aquazurra Raffia Pom Pom Heels | Under $30

One of my favorite places to find a super stylish DIY is on LocksandTrinkets blog and YouTube channel. Sometime last year she had posted a video where she recreated the most amazing pair of shoes by Aquazurra. I instantly fell in love and decided that I would try it for myself. Shortly after I purchased a pack of pom pom balls and a pair of open toe wrap around heels from Madden Girl. This project took no time to complete and I couldn’t help but love the finished results. For comparison:

Aquazurra Raffia Pom Pom Stilettos | $825 USD vs. DIY Madden Girl Pom Pom Stilettos | $27 minus tax

Image-1 (2)

What you’ll need:

80 Pack Assorted pom pom balls | $1

2 Pack of Superglue | $1

Open toed strappy heels | Madden Girl | $25

When recreating this DIY I didn’t do everything exactly the same because 1. I couldn’t find my hot glue gun 2. I used one size pom pom balls and 3. I covered the whole strap in pom pom balls instead of focusing on the center.

This took no more than 20 minutes to complete because it is so easy. To help cut down on the production time I laid my pom pom’s out in a sequence that I liked so I wouldn’t have any difficulties when gluing them onto the shoe. This isn’t really necessary but I was going for a more uniform look considering I had eight different color pom poms to choose from. After this I glued the pom poms down and waited for them to dry. The dry time doesn’t take very long but you may want to wait a few minutes before wearing them out to make sure the balls set.
