koyVoca Cosmetics Haul + Review

When I received an email from koyVoca cosmetics saying that everything was 30% off, I ran to their website and placed an order. In this order, I purchased the Hilife Highlighter in the shade Heir $12 and their Classic Setting Powder in the shade Medium-Deep $10.

Hilife Highlighter in Heir

Choosing a highlighter from their collection was so hard because they have several gorgeous colors and I love them all. I eventually decided on Heir and I’m loving it’s true gold color. The powder is so smooth, doesn’t have obvious glitter and it gives me an ethereal glow. The packaging is compact and great for traveling but I dislike the labels used for the shade names, I accidentally set it on a wet counter and the sticker started peeling almost immediately. Also, my highlighter came with a huge nick in it (as seen above), I assumed that it maybe happened while the powder was being pressed or during shipping.

After traveling with it and using the highlighter a few times there are more dents on the product! If you drop this once, you will probably be devastated at the empty pan and product everywhere. I’m not sure what they are using to press the pigments but the product is way too soft and will break away slowly, do you see all of the powder on the packaging? I don’t have this issue often.

Classic Setting Powder in Medium-Deep

I have no complaints about this powder! I realize that I should have purchased it in the Medium shade but I am so used to commercial brands who sell medium powders that are really “light” so my skepticism prevented me from going with that option. Thankfully I can work with medium-deep even though it’s a bit too red for my liking. My face is set nicely after initial application then I’ll notice a bit of oiliness in my T-Zone but that has happened with other powders also.

HAUL | Jordana’s NEW Cosmic Glow Holographic Lipgloss Collection

The lip product junkie in me rejoiced when I saw that Jordana was coming out with a new line of lipglosses. One of my favorite things about the brand is their great deals, but they do not release new products as often as my other favorite drugstore brands.

As soon as I found these glosses in my local Walgreens, I grabbed up two of six from the collection.

Then maybe a few days later, I picked up two more glosses from the collection. At this point, it would seem like I may be going to pick up the last two from the collection but I wasn’t interested in those. A shocker? I know LOL.

The glosses retail for $3 a pop – A DEAL!

The shades that I purchased are 02 Galactic Blue, 03 Crystallized Pink, 05 Brilliant Fuschia and 06 Iridescent Purple.

Solstice is sunset themed with a combination of warm brown tones, burnt oranges, reds, golds, bronzes, and yellows. Whereas Supernova is purple themed with a combination of warm and cool violets, plums, and fuchsia.

AJ Crimson #CyberMonday Haul

Happy HAULidays everyone. I know that I mentioned participating in a few Black Friday sales, which I did. But I never mentioned Cyber Monday. I had not planned on spending any more money until I saw that AJ Crimson was having a half off sale!

Unfortunately, I was not able to get the foundation sampler on my Black-Owned Makeup Brands wishlist, but I did have a few other items I was eyeing; the lipgloss from the AJ Crimson x Naturi Naughton collection in Power Play & the mint metals lipgloss in the shade GO OFF!

IMG_4003

Before the cyber Monday sale, each lipgloss cost $22 dollars. So I was able to get these for $11 each – essentially two for the price of one. A deal! I was not a fan of the shipping price but it is something to be expected when you aren’t spending more than $50 on most websites.

Since receiving my package, I’ve worn these glosses several times, and the formula is absolutely amazing. These glosses are super comfortable on the lips, long lasting, and gorgeous. As a lip junkie, I wish all brands had such great non-sticky formulas. AJ get’s an A++++ from me!

The Lip Bar Black Friday Sale Haul

Happy HAULidays! Today we are back with another haul featuring makeup items that I purchased during Black Friday. If you saw my Black Friday Sales I’m Digging post, then you would have known that this was coming. As a semi-reformed lip product junkie, I could not resist the great sale that was being offered – every item was marked down to 10 dollars a piece except for the holiday 2017 collection that was just released.

From this sale I ordered one lip gloss, a lipstick and the mystery bag that comes with two items for $10 dollars. A deal indeed.

The goods:

Lip Gloss in the Shade Class Act | $14

I have already worn my lip gloss in the shade class act and I love it! My mother told me that if it comes up missing then I’ll know where it is; so I need to keep a close eye out on that one LOL. She may end up finding one in her stocking if mine doesn’t go missing.

Lipstick in the shade Chaitini | $13

IMG_3854

Lipstick in the shade Everything | $13

Lip liner in the shade True Brown

Holiday Packaging vs. OG Packaging:

As you can see they spiced things up by using white packaging for their Holiday 2017 collection. I do not particularly care for it because it looks kind of cheap. I would have preferred the packaging to have a matte finish which is on par with their usual look. Aside from that I love the concept and hope that they will reconsider the finish. I had already planned what I was going to purchase, then I saw the new items in white packaging and had to pick something up.

If you’re interested in pigmented and colorful, vegan and cruelty free makeup then definitely check out The Lip Bar. Their liquid lipstick in Bawse Lady is ICONIC.

Retro Love Palette by Bad Habit Beauty | $10 Deal

If you recall my haul of the Aphrodite palette (Huda Beauty Rose Gold Edition dupe!), I mentioned that I had plans on buying more items from Bad Habit Beauty. A few weeks later, and we are back!

This time I’m bringing you the Retro Love palette which is a dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture palette. After the initial controversy and bad reviews I could not bring myself to spend $42 on that palette. So thank goodness for Bad Habit Beauty!

The packaging of this palette is super cute, I mean, do you see it? The “retro” theme was perfectly captured in it’s design which makes it even better. This palette contains 14 eye shadows that just scream Fall.

Anas… I mean Bad Habit Beauty went off on this one.

There are 11 matte shades, and 3 shimmers.

Out of the 14 shades in this palette, the most notable are Flower Power, Rebel, Icon, Mod, Revolution and Nostalgia. Flower Power was the first color that caught my eye because I own several orange eyeshadows but none of them are a creamsicle shade like FP.

IMG_3709

By looking at the swatches above, I am sure you are noticing the patchiniess in some of the shades like Mod, and Nostalgia. This can definitely cause a problem during application and should be noted for those who are interested.

I have not used this palette yet as it literally arrived while I was leaving for class 😦 but I am willing to bet that there will be fallout. It won’t be as bad as the first batch of Subculture palettes but it is what it is LOL.

I am eager to create some colorful looks with this palette for the holiday season, so stay tuned for a review or first impression.

My 70’s Inspired F.O.T.D.

While I dressed up for a costume party, I hadn’t planned on dressing up on the actual day of Halloween. But like I mentioned in my last post – you can get chipotle for $3 if you dress up. So what did I do? I came up with another halloween #look. Since I’m currently rocking a fro I decided to find a “costume” that went with my hairstyle. What better than a look from the 70’s? Big fro’s, fierce fashion and beautiful makeup, I had to do it!

For my makeup, I opted to use minimal products:

IMG_3551

Base ||

Primer – Black Radiance true complexion HD primer in Natural Nude

Concealer – Ruby Kisses 3D face creator in RDF11. I used the darker shade to cover my dark marks, and the lighter shade as an under eye concealer.

Powder – MAC mineralize skin finish in Dark Tan

Highlighter – Highlight from Black Radiance’s blushing bronze palette in dark to deep

Eyes ||

Maybelline the Graffiti Nudes palette – First I used the shimmery brown shade on the top row, all over the lids. Then to create a spotlight illusion, I added the third eye shadow on the second row, a shimmery gold, to the middle of my lid. For no reason really, I used the Victoria’s Secret eye shadow in Precious as an inner corner highlight.

Lips ||

Liner – L.A. colors brow pencil in brown

Lipgloss – NYX Glam Gloss Aqua luxe in the shade The Beat Goes On

Aphrodite Palette by Bad Habit | $10 Deal!

If you are big on beauty videos on YouTube then you may have heard of Shop Hush. This beauty retailer sells super affordable items with their most notable items being the dupe palettes from Bad Habit. They have “dupes” aka duplicates of Huda Beauty, Anastasia Bevery Hills, and most recently Urban Decay. All of these dupes cost a whopping TEN dollars and they are very popular which means they are constantly selling out!

The Aphrodite palette is a duplicate for the Huda Beauty Rose Gold edition palette that’s fifty-five dollars. Due to the fact that I have the shop hush app, I was able to purchase the palette while it was shown as sold out on the website. Luckily, I received free shipping (it was quick too!) and 30 cents off for logging into the app daily – you know I’m always looking to save money.  That’s a huge deal for me LOL. The palette came in a well packaged box, that was  a bit complicated to open because I think I was too excited, and two layers of bubble wrap. Safe to say it was goodT.

The Aphrodite palette definitely surprised me when initially opening it. The actual palette packaging is thick and doesn’t feel cheap like some would assume. It comes with a nice size mirror, that makes it great for travel and I really appreciate it. Just like the HB palette it contains 18 eyeshadows but the glitter shadows are replaced with metallic shades. Some of these shades contain a thicker glitter so it looks quite differently in the pan – I can not complain for the price point.

The Aphrodite palette is perfect for the fall because it features so many berry and red shades. I already have a few looks in mind that I would like to play around with. Rihanna’s smokey red look from the 2016 VMA’s is on the top of that list.

So far my favorite colors from the palette are (pictured left to right) Crush, Jealousy, Beauty, Flirt, Lust and Adore. Each of the metallic shades feel very buttery and smooth which had me #shoOk! My swatches aren’t the best but for a more detailed look at this palette in depth Andrea Renee has a great video that you can find here.

All my makeup beginners, lovers and those who do not mind Talc and Mica in their products, you need this palette like yesterday. If I am lucky enough to get my hands on more palettes from Bad Habit then I will share them here. Stay tuned!
