Retro Love Palette by Bad Habit Beauty | $10 Deal

If you recall my haul of the Aphrodite palette (Huda Beauty Rose Gold Edition dupe!), I mentioned that I had plans on buying more items from Bad Habit Beauty. A few weeks later, and we are back!

This time I’m bringing you the Retro Love palette which is a dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture palette. After the initial controversy and bad reviews I could not bring myself to spend $42 on that palette. So thank goodness for Bad Habit Beauty!

The packaging of this palette is super cute, I mean, do you see it? The “retro” theme was perfectly captured in it’s design which makes it even better. This palette contains 14 eye shadows that just scream Fall.

Anas… I mean Bad Habit Beauty went off on this one.

There are 11 matte shades, and 3 shimmers.

Out of the 14 shades in this palette, the most notable are Flower Power, Rebel, Icon, Mod, Revolution and Nostalgia. Flower Power was the first color that caught my eye because I own several orange eyeshadows but none of them are a creamsicle shade like FP.

IMG_3709

By looking at the swatches above, I am sure you are noticing the patchiniess in some of the shades like Mod, and Nostalgia. This can definitely cause a problem during application and should be noted for those who are interested.

I have not used this palette yet as it literally arrived while I was leaving for class 😦 but I am willing to bet that there will be fallout. It won’t be as bad as the first batch of Subculture palettes but it is what it is LOL.

I am eager to create some colorful looks with this palette for the holiday season, so stay tuned for a review or first impression.

My 70’s Inspired F.O.T.D.

While I dressed up for a costume party, I hadn’t planned on dressing up on the actual day of Halloween. But like I mentioned in my last post – you can get chipotle for $3 if you dress up. So what did I do? I came up with another halloween #look. Since I’m currently rocking a fro I decided to find a “costume” that went with my hairstyle. What better than a look from the 70’s? Big fro’s, fierce fashion and beautiful makeup, I had to do it!

For my makeup, I opted to use minimal products:

Base ||

Primer – Black Radiance true complexion HD primer in Natural Nude

Concealer – Ruby Kisses 3D face creator in RDF11. I used the darker shade to cover my dark marks, and the lighter shade as an under eye concealer.

Powder – MAC mineralize skin finish in Dark Tan

Highlighter – Highlight from Black Radiance’s blushing bronze palette in dark to deep

Eyes ||

Maybelline the Graffiti Nudes palette – First I used the shimmery brown shade on the top row, all over the lids. Then to create a spotlight illusion, I added the third eye shadow on the second row, a shimmery gold, to the middle of my lid. For no reason really, I used the Victoria’s Secret eye shadow in Precious as an inner corner highlight.

Lips ||

Liner – L.A. colors brow pencil in brown

Lipgloss – NYX Glam Gloss Aqua luxe in the shade The Beat Goes On

Aphrodite Palette by Bad Habit | $10 Deal!

If you are big on beauty videos on YouTube then you may have heard of Shop Hush. This beauty retailer sells super affordable items with their most notable items being the dupe palettes from Bad Habit. They have “dupes” aka duplicates of Huda Beauty, Anastasia Bevery Hills, and most recently Urban Decay. All of these dupes cost a whopping TEN dollars and they are very popular which means they are constantly selling out!

The Aphrodite palette is a duplicate for the Huda Beauty Rose Gold edition palette that’s fifty-five dollars. Due to the fact that I have the shop hush app, I was able to purchase the palette while it was shown as sold out on the website. Luckily, I received free shipping (it was quick too!) and 30 cents off for logging into the app daily – you know I’m always looking to save money.  That’s a huge deal for me LOL. The palette came in a well packaged box, that was  a bit complicated to open because I think I was too excited, and two layers of bubble wrap. Safe to say it was goodT.

The Aphrodite palette definitely surprised me when initially opening it. The actual palette packaging is thick and doesn’t feel cheap like some would assume. It comes with a nice size mirror, that makes it great for travel and I really appreciate it. Just like the HB palette it contains 18 eyeshadows but the glitter shadows are replaced with metallic shades. Some of these shades contain a thicker glitter so it looks quite differently in the pan – I can not complain for the price point.

The Aphrodite palette is perfect for the fall because it features so many berry and red shades. I already have a few looks in mind that I would like to play around with. Rihanna’s smokey red look from the 2016 VMA’s is on the top of that list.

So far my favorite colors from the palette are (pictured left to right) Crush, Jealousy, Beauty, Flirt, Lust and Adore. Each of the metallic shades feel very buttery and smooth which had me #shoOk! My swatches aren’t the best but for a more detailed look at this palette in depth Andrea Renee has a great video that you can find here.

All my makeup beginners, lovers and those who do not mind Talc and Mica in their products, you need this palette like yesterday. If I am lucky enough to get my hands on more palettes from Bad Habit then I will share them here. Stay tuned!

#B.O.M.B | B’ellegant Cosmetics Review

At the end of July, B’ellegant Cosmetics had a huge sale discounting majority of their liquid lipsticks and lipglosses to $5. With a sale like that I couldn’t resist purchasing something so I picked up two of their lip glosses in the shades Pink Sunset and Mermaid Dreams.

Pink Sunset is described as a beautiful pink gloss with a strong gold shift & gold sparks.

Mermaid Dreams is described as a lavender gloss with a strong blue shift.

I must say that I am not very impressed with these lip glosses. The colors are gorgeous but they settle into the lines of my lips which looks quite unappealing. I especially have this issue with Pink Sunset and the gold glitters in the gloss. Out of two Mermaid Dreams would obviously be supreme in terms of color and how it applies.

Would I purchase lip glosses from B’ellegant Cosmetics again? Probably not – unless they improve the formulation of the glosses. With that being said, I am still optimistic about the other products they sell, and I am interested in picking up a few of their liquid lipsticks and maybe a highlighter or two.

If you’ve purchased from B’ellegant Cosmetics, please leave your product recommendations below!

First Impression | NEW Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder

I’m sure many of you are familiar with Maybelline’s Fit Me collection, it’s one of the best collections that you can find in the drugstore for under $10. One of the reasons why this line is so popular is because you’re getting great quality makeup that comes in a wide range of colors, and it’s also very affordable. Recently, the Fit Me foundation line was extended by adding 18 new shades of foundation which means the line now has 32 shades. They range from the lightest shade Porcelain 102 to Java 375 the darkest shade. The Fit Me line currently consists of the Dewy/Matte + Poreless foundations, concealer, pressed powder, blush and shine free foundation stick. The newest addition to that line is the Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder!

After watching a YouTube video reviewing the loose powder, I went directly to the Maybelline section of my local Walmart to hunt down the newest item. The loose setting power comes in eight different shades starting at Fair and ending at Dark. I purchased the color Deep (the second darkest) for only $5.94! The Fit Me Loose Finishing powder is described as a mineral-based formula that will help control shine and smooth skins texture with a hint of color. You can currently find this in-stores and online at Walmart, Ulta and Maybelline’s website.

The products I used when testing this out were:

Maybelline Baby Skin Primer

Maybelline Matte + Poreless foundation in Coconut 355

Ruby Kisses Pure Mineral concealer in Golden Honey mixed with the Marc Jacobs Coconut Dew Drops Highligther

& Wet n Wild Megaglo highlighting powder in Lilac to Reality

After applying the loose finishing powder to my full face in different lighting

Final thoughts: I definitely loved the finished product after applying this finishing powder to my full face. It feels very light on, and kept my face from getting oily which I occasionally experience when using the Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation.  I also liked the fact that the powder didn’t alter the color of my already applied makeup. I applied my makeup at 5:30 and didn’t take it off until 12, after the NBA Finals Game 3 (GO CAVS!). During those hours I never needed a retouch and that is what really won me over.

I won’t recommend this product because I would like to try it with a different combination of items before I give it my stamp of approval but I’m not saying that you shouldn’t buy it either (like that helps LOL). If you do try it, let me know what you used it with and your thoughts!

Utilize Your Resources for FREE Makeup!

Warning, this title is not sensationalized because you can get makeup for free without dumpster diving or whatever crazy methods that are showcased on YouTube. This method of receiving free products is called sampling. By sampling you are able to find your correct shade, which products you like and if you are willing to spend money on the full size item in the future. I believe every makeup counter gives samples of products (you just need to ask) and Sephora gives three per visit, so you are able to rack up on items you’ve been coveting without breaking the bank or making a purchase at the counter/store.

img_1197
Sometime last week, my friend Raj and I went to the mall to look around and see if we could find something cute to wear for a huge party on-campus, which she did. While there we decided that we would go get a few samples of foundation and concealers that we were interested in trying from high-end companies like Lancome and Bobbi Brown. Eventually that turned into us shamelessly going to both Sephora’s in the mall for more samples of other products – like skin care and whatever else I could think of at the time. This left us with a nice amount of items to try to potentially purchase or to sample again. From this trip I ended with 10 samples which are listed below:

Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting foundation in Deep Bronze

Clinique Super Balanced foundation in 15 Golden

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Finish in Almond

Lancome Teint Idole foundation in 500 Suede W

Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm

Facial Oil from Lancome not sure the name but who doesn’t love expensive products

Make Up For Ever Step 1 Primer in Caramel

Murad Essential -C Cleanser

Make Up For Ever Step 1 Smoothing Primer

Becca Skin Perfector in Rose Gold

I guess you could say that we had a pretty successful trip!

Is This A MAC Dazzleglass Dupe?

I think yes.

During my sophomore year of highschool I discovered the cosmetic company outlet thanks to Youtube. I heard that they sold discontinued and limited edition makeup from MAC Cosmetics and other high end brands. I obviously had to see if for myself, so I did for my 16th birthday. After that trip I couldn’t deny myself the greatness that is the CCO (cosmetic company outlet).

On my third trip to the CCO I found the most amazing sparkly all around gorgeous lip gloss called Funtabulous – A mix of fun and fabulous – basically myself in a lip gloss. It must have called to others as well because I grabbed the last one in stock. This soon became my everyday lip gloss which I used to the end. I never thought that I would find another lip gloss like it until I discovered the Black Radiance Brilliant Effects lip gloss in the shade Date Night!

Y’all, the BR lip gloss cost under $4! Four dollars.. this is literally one of the best lip products in the drugstore!

Date night is on the left and Funtabulous is on the right. They look nearly identical, right? Funtab. is a bit more pink but you can’t tell unless you’re looking super close.

I’m pretty sure that I talk about these lip glosses a little too often, I mean they’re pretty darn gorgeous, and I have mentioned them in two blog post – BOMB products from Black Radiance and the best makeup for back to school under $20. I also own two other shades of the Brilliant Effects lip glosses in Lovesick and Starstruck which I receive sooo many compliments on.

To find these gorgeous glosses you can find them in the Black Radiance stand in Walmart (online too!) and on Black Radiances website!
