Yes, yes I am. And here is why:
What do Fenty Beauty, Jouer Cosmetics, Wet n Wild Beauty and Benefit Cosmetics have in common? They all have sent PR packages to or have collaborated with Jeffree Star. So if you’ve seen my Anti-Haul post then you would understand my reasoning for calling myself a hypocrite.
I publicly took a stand against five brands for working with someone whose moral compass turned differently than my own; and I won’t apologize for that because racism and misogynism will forever be unacceptable in my book.
So why is it that I continued to purchase from Fenty Beauty, after seeing that not only did Jeffree get invited to the launch party but he received parts of the collection for free? I couldn’t have possibly let my love for everything Rihanna cloud my better judgement. I couldn’t have but I did. And I will admit to my faults.
I stated (on other forms of social media) that I would wait to see if he would receive PR from Fenty Beauty – which he did -to decide if I would part ways with this brand. Since I haven’t, would I then decide to wait until he had a collaboration with Fenty Beauty or was pictured with Rihanna to do so?
As evidenced by these tweets, and a few articles online, the fact that he was invited considering his past was not lost on many, including myself:
Instead of constantly wondering why he was invited I should probably consider my moral standing for continuing to support this brand. With the Fenty Beauty holiday collection dropping on October 13th, that looks sooooo good, I need to do so as soon as possible!
Will I continue to purchase from Fenty Beauty? I can’t say, and that is part of the issue!
