Save Money While You #Slay

There’s nothing better than finding a good deal while you’re out and about. That feeling is even better when you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to get the deal. I am a huge advocate for the sale and clearance section because it hasn’t let me down, yet. Because I love to spend and save money, I thought I would share a few tips on keeping more money in your wallet!

  • Sign up for sales newsletters and text messages
    • You’ll be one of the first to know about upcoming promotions and will also recieve coupons directly to your phone.
  • Use discount codes
    • Discount codes while shopping online are a God send. You can get free shipping, dollars off, cashback AND free items with a purchase. Utilize websites like eBates, RetailMeNot and Krazycouponlady to practice the art of saving money. You can download the apps and use them in-store as well!
  • Find a good dupe
    •  For makeup you can follow @dupethat and @allintheblush on Instagram for dupes on miscellaneous makeup items.
    • For designer fashion dupes you can look at Real vs.Steal on InTheirCloset or search for designer inspired items (Not a knockoff with the designer name but a similar style from another brand!).
  • Save for big ticket items
    • Saving seems like such a tedious task but it is so worth it in the end. Imagine holding that designer purse in your hands after months of saving, it feels like sweet victory!
  • Check the prices before you buy!
    • More often then not you can find the same item at a lower price from another retailer. This may seem like a lot of work but you can do this research from your phone or computer before you leave the house!
    • If you aren’t able to go to another retailer some places will do a price match and let you get the lower price. It doesn’t hurt to confirm before you try.

I hope that these money saving tips come in handy on your next shopping trip. Be like Ilana from Broad City and get those deals, deals, deals!

Angie Earrings by Vinti Couture

Earlier this month Quirky, Brown Love posted a blog featuring 49 Black Owned Fashion Companies and one company that caught my eye was Vinti Couture. Vinti Couture sells Afrocentric handcrafted jewelry in bold colors and various sizes. After contemplating which item I should purchase I found the “Angie” and fell in loooooove.

The Angie’s are Inspired by Angela Davis, radical African-American educator and activist for civil rights and other social issues.

There were so many other great contenders but I knew I needed to have these first so I could rock them with a bold red lip and black ensemble. Hopefully the Sahara’s will be back in stock soon because I’m ready to have those beauties on my ear!

Glow girl, glow!

There’s something about bronzers and highlighters that will have you hooked after the first use. Maybe it’s the smile on your face when you see that highlight for the first time or because of the many compliments you’ll receive while out and about.

So I thought it would be a good idea to share some of my favorites so we can all “glo up” this summer!

Capture

Wet ‘n’ Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powder in the shade Crown of My Canopy – $3.99

Wet ‘n’ Wild Shimmering Palette in Rose Champagne Glow – $5.99

Even though WNW no longer sells the Fergie collection they do sell this highlighter under another name. The new name for this highlighter is I’ll Have A Cosmo and it can be found in stores and online. Check it out and get your life!

Wet ‘n’ Wild Coloricon Blush in Apri-Cot in the Middle – $2.99

This blush looks so gorgeous in the packaging but comes out differently on the skin which isn’t exactly a bad thing. Instead of a peachy blush it looks more like a shimmery highlighter that you can wear alone or on top of a more pigmented blush.

ELF Illuminating Palette – $6

You can see swatches and read a review here

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Bronzer in the shade Rock On World – $6

Can your skin ever look too bronzed? Maybe, sometimes, but this is not one of those times. I’m pretty sure I’ve used this every time I’ve done my makeup since I purchased it. Just add a little all over the face then set with your finishing spray and you’ll be on your way out the door.

Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in the shade Golden Lights – $6

NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator in Pure Gold – $7.49

My favorite use for this this illuminator is to mix it with my moisturizer or foundation to add a little extra glow. It’s perfect for those lazy days when you aren’t feeling a full face but still want to look good. Just add a few drops, mix, and Voila!
